[She understands. She understands the intended point, yes. It doesn't immediately have the effect Yuuri was probably hoping for, because while Arianna might not show off her talent for looking down on herself very often, she's actually really, really good at it. It does help, but only in the way that Yuuri's love always helps. Only time, or perhaps a sudden change in their situation, will cure her of being a front line class left back at the guild, so to speak.

But she also understands once more something she hasn't thought about in a while, and that is that Yuuri spend so much time in an utterly hopeless situation, one where any moment could be the end and there wasn't anything they could do about it. Rii-san being afraid to go to sleep... ]

[Now she really does break down, but it's okay. She hugs her sister tightly, sobbing.]

Perhaps the question of 'how' is not by necessity one to prioritize, yet...it does warrant being addressed. The channeling of souls long past is a practice not unheard of in my world, but entirely relocating one to a new form is well beyond that. It leads me to wonder of the true capabilities of those we find ourselves fighting against.

[Starting with Tuesday's episode on therapy and feelings and all that nonsense, Ardyn casually seemed to be avoiding eye contact with the screen whenever Noctis was shown. He'd focus on a cup of coffee, occupy himself with writing something or other in a notebook, or divert his attention to the galaxy pigeon on his shoulder. Occasionally, he'd even toss out a remark like:]

Goodness, a four hundred year old vampire. She must feel terribly infinite and endless. [And yes, there was a sarcastic eyeroll with that.] Her name's certainly longer than mine, I'll give her credit for that much.

[Sarcasm aside, Ardyn might have been acting a little weird. But maybe someone who squinted a little for a minute would be able to spot the potential issue.]

[He is here. Because he's not going to make people report anything to him or come grab him if something happens, no, he has to face this. Like Ardyn. At the very least he has to be here for Ardyn's sake. And of course he notices. But...not...entirely 100% sure what it's about. Ardyn rarely ever does shame, after all.]

You know what would make all this better? Booze. We could even invent a season four drinking game at some point.

[Ardyn produced a half-empty cinnamon hangover in a bottle from the Armiger, casually pouring some into his coffee before handing it over.]

I left some in the kitchen, but certainly not everything.

Man, I know it's been said, but I can't believe that's the Chosen Kid. Less kid, more...embracing his good family genes, I guess.

I neglected to acknowledge ten years passed in the process. He's less of a child than I may have implied.

He'd still a kid. Even if he looks my outward age. When he's scruffy. Sans scruff, it really takes a couple years off. He'll always be the Chosen Kid, though. He'll just have to get used to being the royal baby.

You're all absurdly young to me. My standards are different.
