Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

This is not an official reserve, nor does it guarantee a slot in the game, but if you do choose to app a character that you test drove, you can use two minimum 20-comment threads or one minimum 40-comment thread (so at least 20 total comments from your character) in place of writing a sample. So have fun with it!

... You mention farming... that shouldn't be possible, from a technical standpoint. At least, from my point of view. Most of the earth's condition is pretty bad. There's a discrepancy here. Did you live above ground, then? What of the sun?

[At least, that's the impression she gets, thinking about it being the imagery he chose to conjure here.]

Allow me to explain something. ... Where I came from... the sun was actively harming people. Humans were unable to go above the ground. It would literally kill them. Turn them to stone.

... You don't seem very technical, but... that's fine. Just think of it like this: everything dried up. There wasn't any greenery. The few plants that did exist were hard to come by. As far as I know... that world is the truth. There shouldn't be any way someone could survive by farming. ... Does that make any sense?

[She shakes her head with a smile-- she didn't do anything special. Not that she deserved thanks for anyway. Mikaela had just wanted to see her brighten up a little.]

I heard about this place and I wanted to see it for myself.

[Stepping aside, she gestures towards the view of the forest.]

[What would Clarith conjure, she wondered. Admittedly she was very curious.]

... Of course. But one man's ability to do something to help compared to the countless men who wanted to only destroy such things... there's only so much you can do, when it's already almost completely gone. This kind of scenery... it's rare.

[ And when he says "well stocked", he's being completely sarcastic. ]

Th-That's... Not where I'm from... M-Maybe parts of Asmodean? B-But Elphegort's a very green country, from what I hear. I-I only know from my mother's maps...

[ She is just. Fiddling with her hair. She's also avoiding eye contact. ]

[ Boxer had always kept to himself in the city called Cloudbank, but even considering he'd been ripped away and ended up here, now didn't seem the time to play the game of keeping to himself.

He'd been meaning to check out the holodeck, and when he noticed its changes - its glow - he approached, curiously looking at the forest setting in front of him. He'd never seen anything so green.

He considered the man mumbling to himself, before his curiosity beat out his tact, and he questioned: ]

Hiya. What are you doin', exactly?

Attempting to recreate something I... scarcely remember.

[ It was around when he was small. A small forest. He remembers one... before everything with the Karma Society. He's not bothered by the lack of tact, he's used to dealing with the Embryon. ]

Although, to be honest, I'm not sure it's perfect. Memories fade.

None of those names seem familiar to me, either... and I know pretty much all of the countries in existence right now.

[ He frowns a little bit. Is she some kind of AI, too? From a program similar to the Junkyard? ... Is that even possible? Or is she someone with implanted memories?

He has no way of knowing, right now, one way or the other. Still, he doesn't want to startle her, or make her more uncomfortable. He'll pause. ]

... Strange. ... Sorry if I made you uncomfortable, in any way. My name is Roland.

[ The door opens and she pauses to watch him eat, staring. Is that edible? She's not sure. What the hell is he doing. Sorry, she seems to be frozen in shock a moment. ]

S-Sorry, am I interrupting?

[Wow, how rude. She, however, doesn't seem to notice all that much.]

It is. [She simply crosses her arms.] I do wonder how detailed these projections can be, however.

[ She's nervous and becoming panicked. The forest is a far as she's gone. ]

No...even if it can simulate the life cycle it's not the same.

[ Whoa, that is a serious reaction. He's... feeling bad, like he did something wrong. Did he trip something to make her uncomfortable? What did he say? Normally he can read people better then this, but she's just... hard to get a read on, for him. ]

... Tough time, huh? ... That name... if it's supposed to hold some significance, I can't say that it does. You shouldn't put yourself down like that, when you've done nothing to be sorry for in the first place.

[ He looks at the simulated sun in this image... not black, not cursed. It's... a pleasant image, to him. ]

It's only natural, then, that God would become angry at something like that, eventually.

[Rather than abject horror, the look on Mikaela's face is more like... confusion. She'd never seen food packaged like this before. The food she had become accustomed to was grown and cooked. It did explain why the kitchen here was so different from those she'd seen in Yatski Village.]

These are all food?

[It seems like there are still some things that she needs to learn up on about humans. They were awfully curious beings. They never ceased to amaze her-- especially now that she had a place among them.]

[ A small chuckle. None of that means anything to him. ]
