Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

[ ...Floating in the middle of the room just out of reach, is a certain white-haired woman who seems to be very distressed. ]

[ Holo Deck ]

[ It's... What Clarith has brought up for the holo deck is part of a forest and a small shack. It's made of stone and is two rooms. She just sits next to the bed in the second room, curled up... With her face in her knees. She seems distressed... ]

[Another white-haired woman seems to be in a similar predicament nearby. This is a little embarrassing, frankly.]

[2B wakes with a start and is on her feet in an instant, breathing heavily. This place isn't so different from the Bunker, but this doesn't make sense. How could she possibly be here?]

[No answer. The loss of her little helper pod is only making her worry more. There's no way for her to scan for the black boxes of other androids. No way for her to get an analysis of the situation handed to her for maximum efficiency.

Damn it. She's battle class; critical thinking isn't her strong suit. She's just... going to have to maintain control and gather data herself.]

All right. This is fine.

I'll be fine.

[And off she goes to accost the nearest person.]

Holodeck

[The new surroundings were getting to be a little much, so 2B takes solace in the holodeck. This isn't too hard to figure out, and soon she's recreated the ruined city, her favorite sword, and a few waves of these little guys to take her mind off things.

In battle she's a lot less awkward than she is in literally any other situation. Here, she has grace and skill. Making robots with round heads explode a whole lot is so much easier than making conversation. Battle fever is a hell of a drug.

A partner would be welcomed. Or even someone to come check out these sweet, sweet moves.]

1-Arrival

[This... was not her room. The bed she was in obviously wasn't hers, by virtue of it being, well, a bed. She couldn't remember how long it had been since she'd slept anywhere other than the chair of her suppression chamber. She sat up, hand drifting to the top of her head. Her ports were still there, that much hadn't changed, but there were no connections there.]

[More interesting were the clothes on her form. She couldn't remember what clothes she actually owned, considering she spent more time in hospital gowns and casual wear as opposed to anything else. She was fairly certain, at least, that she didn't own a cyan ballgown of any sort.]

[Something was going on, then. Perhaps she should have been more concerned about what exactly it was, but... whatever it was had afforded her some amount of personal freedom. Clearly it couldn't be so bad.]

[She pushed herself off of the bed, surprised when legs that had been all but useless for a number of years managed to find a way to work. Mostly, at least. She still stumbled, in the slightest, and her knees shook themselves all the way to the door, but at least she made it.]

[Until she rested herself against the door and found that it, rather unfortunately, slid open, depositing her in a heap of bony limbs on the floor.]

2- Mealtime

[There were few good things that Handsome Jack had left Angel. She doubted that a severe distrust of medical and/or authority figures were under the classification of "good," but she did have decent table manners. She never ate at a table, of course, but she liked to think that if she did, she would have been quite refined.]

[Except, well... most of the food she ate was rather bland and excessively healthy. So when she spotted a steaming pile of some sort of meat, heaped with oils and greases, she couldn't exactly help herself.]

[Manners could be damned when it felt like she hadn't ate in ages. So... don't mind this Siren, casually shoveling food in her mouth like no one is watching. Or do, if you're so inclined.]

3- Holo Deck

[Angel's seclusion had afforded her few luxuries, and even fewer incidences that one might have considered "necessary" to live a wholesome life. She couldn't remember the last time she felt the breeze on her face, or felt the rain on her cheeks.]

[So naturally she couldn't help but fiddle with the settings, conjuring up a raging storm. The booming thunder was a little intimidating, but even the sight of rain and wind whipping through trees was enough to bring a small smile to her lips.]

[ So by now Rhys has kind of figured out they're from the same place... but he's not sure what her deal is, exactly! But hey, it's... good (?) to know someone has an idea of where you come from and where you'll be going with this whole fucking nutso deal is over. ]

1. Waking Up

[This certainly wouldn't do at all. This wasn't the academy--no room had this sort of technology. One hand absently goes towards a tie that isn't there as she goes to the door and sticks her head out into the hall.]

2. Holo Deck

[The holo deck was transformed into a garden. The backdrop of both a forest and a school building seemed to ground the scene as Yuriika stood in front of the scene. For once her stance was more relaxed. As soon as she hears movement, her head turns just slightly towards the noise and nods.]

Lilies are quite beautiful, aren't they? Even these artificial ones seem to have some of that beauty.

[She gives a low, dry chuckle before looking back at the garden.]

Though, only some.

[Really, he should've known that it was too much to hope that he'd go back to his room on the Dammerung and leave all the adventure to other people. When he wakes up, it's not the silver of the walls that tells him something's wrong (though the walls he's used to are white)...no, it's the fact that he doesn't remember going to sleep in the first place. Noticing a strange implant in his arm doesn't help. Looking through the information on the strange implant really doesn't help.

After taking a moment to process what he just read, there's only one thing for Allen to do: take a look around. If he comes across someone else, he'll hang back watching them for a second and then, assuming they don't seem dangerous, approach.]

You're a prisoner here too, right? I don't suppose you know how we got here?

[...Considering Allen's complete lack of presence when he's standing in the background, it's entirely possible the person he's talking to didn't notice him until he spoke up.]

[It's not quite the EVS, but it's something. People who wander into the holodeck today will find that it's set up as a grassy field with a large, calm lake in the middle. Allen's sitting with his back to a log at the bank of the lake, holding onto a fishing pole. Maybe it's not real fishing, and the computer running the simulation isn't quite sophisticated enough to program in realistic animal behavior, but it's a bit of relaxation he needs in the midst of all this insanity.]

Today she's recreated an underground ruin, which was a temple once but now it's more of a crumbling stone labyrinth (monsters deliberately not included, she's not that dumb). She hasn't noticed anyone else come in, as she's busy messing around with various spots, changing their appearances in an attempt to recreate what this place might have originally looked like.]

[ Should you find yourself unfortunate enough, you will perhaps run into Homare Nishitani, a man known largely by his reputation... in Sotenbori, Japan, anyway. As for what he's doing here, he's as curious about it as anyone else. Everything about the way he moves to the way he keeps checking his pockets seems to indicate that he's missing something valuable to him. What a weirdo.

He's hunched around the window, moving animatedly as though he might see something besides the void of infinite nothingness if he just turns his head the right way... that's where you come along. He waves a hand, eyes still locked on the small window. ]

Hey, hey, have a look at this, will ya?

[ (1b:) Uh, let me know if you'd like to fight him because I'll be honest, this might be a trap. ]

2: How Much Till It's Okay?

[ Well, the food sucks. It's not like Nishitani grew up eating caviar and sucking on Chardonnay. That shit started when he got into the Yakuza proper. It's a damn shame the food here sucks so bad, though. Nishitani sits sprawled on a table, legs dangling off the armrest, rocking back and forth. That's not how you sit, dude. He seems to have opened around 10 of those silver packages and not a single one has yielded any results. ]

[ The announcement goes off, "Champion of ---- is dead," the voice says. A copy of the autopsy report appears on Nishitani's PIP, with each gruesome detail listed, along with a photo of the corpse in question.

Nishitani stares down at his PIP, a giggle escaping his lips. ]

Oh-ho? What's this now? Things're finally gonna get excitin'?

[ He presses a few buttons at random, evidently looking for the body's location. He's... really excited about this murder thing. He nods as more facts come in. He probably would've done if differently if you ask him... ]

Ahh, what I wouldn't give to know who it was, I owe 'em one hell of a kiss...

[ Don't mind him, he's just... excited. Really. Excited. Maybe stay out of his way, or don't. ]

If I could live there with the people I cared about most in a happy way... I suppose that would be my dream.

[Even though it was the very place she left. Life was funny that way, she supposed. But by itself this place was no longer her everything. Instead now it was a piece of her. And truthfully she thought it was... something to be happy about, at the very least.]

[ Listen, Luck comes from a time before space travel. Hell, there's probably a lot of cultural touchstones people reference that sort of fly right over his head. So he's made this grand incredible holodeck into... a bar. A dirty basement speakeasy. He's not even really drinking or anything, just sort of sitting at a table mulling over some cards. If he sees someone enter, though, he might wave them over. ]

Care for a game? This damn room can't make real booze, but at least this still works.

The goddamn lens flares shining off the chrome make Junpei's head throb like he's got the devil's cruddiest hangover without even the happy memory of whatever he drank to get here. Not that this is likely to be the result of a night's drinking. Unfamiliar location, foreign object wired to his arm, no explanation whatsoever--Junpei knows this song and dance. His headache's probably from the latest knew knockout drug. Hell, these guys are good. He doesn't even remember the abduction. He ought to send them his compliments.

With a face like sour apples, Junpei sets off to find a place that maybe isn't so bright. In the meantime, he starts inspecting his PIP, though he doesn't expect to find any answers. Upon discovering his title, he actually stops to drag a hand down his face.]

Ha ha. Hilarious. [He looks around.] You can come out now, Zero. Olly olly oxen-free.

2: Cafeteria

[See Junpei. See Junpei sit. See Junpei open a package of freeze-dried shit like he doesn't even care what's in it. See Junpei peel the wrapper down like it's a banana. See Junpei sniff-test what is apparently a freeze-dried beef sandwich.

Make eye contact with Junpei. Suddenly realize this person you know as Junpei is a young man with absolutely nothing to lose. Find yourself unable to tear your gaze away as he stares you down, dares you silently to stop him, lifts the horrible "meal" to his mouth.

Gape in horror as he just sticks it in his mouth and crunches down.

You know. You know this boy has been to college.]

[Rather than abject horror, the look on Mikaela's face is more like... confusion. She'd never seen food packaged like this before. The food she had become accustomed to was grown and cooked. It did explain why the kitchen here was so different from those she'd seen in Yatski Village.]

[It seems like there are still some things that she needs to learn up on about humans. They were awfully curious beings. They never ceased to amaze her-- especially now that she had a place among them.]

... What is this, the Karma Society? Why the hell would they bring one of us here alive?

2. Holo Deck

[ What kind of recreation would a man like Roland want? Something simple. Just a nice, lush forest. No pollution, nothing weird. That's... all he'd like to see. Where there's wildlife. Sure, it's fake, but it's... something he never thought he'd see in his lifetime again, to be honest.

After all, he's not one of the Elite.

Care to wonder why a man in his (probably) thirties would even want something like this? He's just sort of quietly talking to himself, staring at a tree. ]

... Honor, huh? Humans certainly didn't care about honoring the environment.

3. Anything Else (Finding Some Embryon Spirit)

[ ... Gotta be orange paint here somewhere, right? This outfit... sure, it's the colors he'd usually wear, but it's missing something. So you can find Roland kind of just digging around the place, looking for some way to mark his clothes orange. He feels like he made a commitment, after all. He should honor that. Even if he's not there right now. So he's just kind of wandering around from room to room trying to find what he's looking for... ]

Takumi might have made a few people mad over the last few days without really meaning to. [This is not his beautiful- actually, this room is a lot nicer than any barracks he's ever been assigned. It's too clean, too private, and the bed seems designed for actual comfort instead of utilitarianism. Did he actually manage to escape somehow? ...In his sleep. Without remembering.]

[Had he been caught, suspected of defection? Maybe, but this wasn't any kind of cell he’d ever seen, First Order or otherwise.]

[And what was up with these clothes?]

[Once he leaves the bedroom it becomes much clearer that this definitely isn't the Finalizer, or anywhere else he knows. He can be found hurriedly moving through the corridors, looking for an exit.]

[Of all the strange things he encountered, this seemed the least disorienting. Ardyn managed to keep himself mostly upright, 'standing' on nothing with a look of what could only be called smug amusement.]

[Welcome to the Holo Deck! Today, this room is going to live up to its promise as the place where all your dreams come true. In fact, as soon as you walk in, a very cheerful jingle blares loudly, assuring you of this very thing. And, in fact, the holo deck has been transformed into a giant store! Shelves and shelves of various and varied mercantile goods lit by painfully bright fluorescent lighting greet your eyes as you enter. The coy scent of free samples wafts from deep within the store, awaiting those curious enough to seek them out within it's vast and unexplored depths. For such a big store, however, it seems oddly devoid of any sort of sentient creature. At first glance, any way.

But step into the building and wander among it's stacks of giant 5 liter bottles of Fantasy Surge and giant buckets of Aunt Patrildia's Fried Unicorn Dick (vegan, of course, because the consumption of real unicorn dick is highly illegal) and you might just find yourself face to face with a very strange cat-like creature. At least, you think he's a cat. He's got all of the parts one needs for a cat: ears, whiskers, tail, paws, and bright orange tabby fur. However, despite standing on two legs, he might even be cute, if there weren't something wholly and completely off-putting about the way he smiles when he spots you. His mouth splits into a wide, sharp-toothed grin, and there's something creepily hungry about the look on his face as he approaches, welcoming you in a voice that cracks and changes pitch like someone going through puberty]
