Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

This is not an official reserve, nor does it guarantee a slot in the game, but if you do choose to app a character that you test drove, you can use two minimum 20-comment threads or one minimum 40-comment thread (so at least 20 total comments from your character) in place of writing a sample. So have fun with it!

[He pauses with the fork halfway to his mouth and leans back, setting the bowl of decidedly questionable "pasta" down so he can flash her his best panty-dropping smile.]

Nah. No, come on there's plenty to go around. [Jim gestures to the space at the table beside him.]

Just... don't be alarmed if my throat closes up. It'll be fine. [A laugh and a shrug.] Probably.

R-Really? Are you from across the sea, then?

[ Unfortunately for Kirk and his smile, he's met his match: a lesbian. ]

Wh-What!? Wh-Why would it do that!?

[Match? Nonsense. That just means she's a challenge. Champion of Winning remember? He refuses to accept defeat. Even if he embarrasses himself trying.]

Well it's not like they posted an ingredient list. [Even as he takes a deep breath to test his reaction and picks the bowl back up to shovel another forkful in his mouth.]

[ Good luck, she has zero interest in men. ]

Wh-What!? Wh-What does that have to d-do with anything!?

[ ...She's from the equivalent of Marie Antoinette's reign, allergies are not a concept she has. ]

[He'll keep trying and embarrassing himself. Sometimes he's just too determined for his own good.]

I can't exactly tell if it has something I'm allergic to in it if there's no list. I mean there's obviously no tomatoes so that's already a good sign.

[Does his tongue itch or is he hyper sensitive because he's thinking about it? Meeting a Spock from 130 years in the future was one thing but from that far in the past? It's hard for him to comprehend sometimes and definitely hard to remember what science they did and didn't have.]

You don't like tomatoes do you? [playful suspicion... now if only he realized just how confused she is.]

[ This is the face of someone not understanding something. ]

[There's no way this is Speedwagon's bed. Or this room. It's too clean.

Where was his bed? His stuff? His mates? And the moment he's out of his room, he's already resoundingly lost.]

...Oi! You there! [He's pointing to... you?] Where the devil are we? One moment I close my eyes, the next I'm in a bed that isn't mine?

[While there will probably be folks that choose to forage through the kitchen for a meal, they might not do it so intensely as Speedwagon.]

Amazing! I've never seen anything quite like it...!

[...He's says to the refrigerator, opening and closing it repeatedly.]

[Help, someone help. There's a large man floating in the middle of the room, kicking and flailing and looking generally distressed as his long hair gets in his face.

He's trying his darnedest to reach one of the sides of the room, but it seems he's firmly rooted himself in the middle somehow.]

[Sorry, he needs a second to chew and swallow. This is absolutely awful.]

Well, if you have a generous definition of 'food...'

[He looks at the wrapper again as if, despite already eating this, he still has no idea what it is he's just consumed.]

But if this is what they call a beef sandwich, I think the staff here could use a new dictionary.

[He lifts his brows at her, expression going incredulous for a moment.]

Uh... right. [He huffs a laugh and tries to recover that flirtatious smile.] It's when your body thinks something is attacking you when it's really not. Bee stings, certain foods, stuff like that.

I happen to have a lot of them.

[Jim's taken to recreating the Enterprise's bridge from time to time, staring wistfully at his command and eventually growling in frustration and storming out because none of this is real. So when he sticks his head in and finds someone else doing something much more effective with the room he can't help but grin.]

'Course they aren't going to give us liquor, that would be too nice. [He sighs dramatically and drops into the chair opposite Luck, his smile turning wicked.]

So what're we betting with?

Maybe if someone wanted to, they could probably have a graveyard displayed here, or a fake body as a distraction.

[ there are two kinds of people. ]

How the hell am I supposed to know?

[ he glares and then just crosses his arms. ]

[Jim's leaning against a wall, eyeing the handy new device on his freaking arm. He looks up abruptly and for a moment he looks just as lost as everyone else. Then he covers it with a smooth smile and a careless shrug.]

Sounds like a good night to me. [A laugh that fades into frustration a little too quickly.]

Your guess is as good as mine, man.

Right, to hydrate it. [work work work] Is this really all we're going to get for food?

What's that even about? [She glares at the PIP.] Can't expect a kidnapper to be reasonable.

I'm surprised they even gave us this.

I don't know a Zero, but whoever this is is some kind of stalker.

[She leans against the wall, having opted for the space suit. The dress was nice, but not until she knows what they're dealing with.]

And weird.

Thank you, Sir Allen! I'm sure you'll be most helpful.

[This is going to end in tears.]

[B]

[It's ten minutes to food time, but Mai is standing there, passively waiting. She's staring at the instant food like she might just give up and try it, but...]

Is this food?

[D]

[You walk in on Mai in a hallway of what looks like a modern high school, gripping a plastic sword. The sword might be fake, but something's definitely moving in the shadows...]

I'm not at all certain. Are you unfamiliar with this place as well?

[Arianna is completely and utterly oblivious to Kinzie's belligerence. Fear her power.]

[He thought it was a nightmare at first. To be expected- waking up in a strange room, walking out into a place so utterly alien as to make him feel completely divorced from reality. Unarmed and undressed and alone.

So the first thing he does is fix one of those things, and the others exploring the station might get a nasty surprise when a young man with way too much unbound hair is blocking the kitchen. With a not just his body but also a knife. He's not making any aggressive movements other then just having it and looking pissed- and stopping anyone else from going in]

Don't even think about it.

[Once everyone is a bit more calmed down and start getting to know each other, it's clear not everyone is getting along. Takumi might have made a few people mad over the last few days without really meaning to. He's made it clear he doesn't trust his fellow Champions, and while he hasn't gone out of his way to pester people, when bothered he tends to be a bit abrasive.

Which is why he's eating on his own, probably. But some people just refuse to let a grumpypants be...]

...what do you want?

[He certainly sounds annoyed]

[The holodeck is very useful! And a great place to go over new memories. So it's no wonder it's popular. But might be a bit terrifying when you go inside the clearly turned off machine- only to hear someone breathing heavily inside, near the far wall.

In the dark it might be scary, but if you listen it sounds like someone panting after a lot of exertion. Or very very upset. Investigate?]

[Mai carefully approaches, grip tight on her sword... Okay, it's plastic, but what can you do.]

...who's there?

[A shaky voice calls out:]

M-mai...?

[He knew everyone's name by now, but that's about all]

And I've never heard of this 'Reinford Company.' If you're trying to pull a joke, it's not a very convincing one. And is now really the time?
