Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

This is not an official reserve, nor does it guarantee a slot in the game, but if you do choose to app a character that you test drove, you can use two minimum 20-comment threads or one minimum 40-comment thread (so at least 20 total comments from your character) in place of writing a sample. [ Well, if there's no hot food, Clarith will just make some. She's useful for that, right? Except... There's no ingredients. She stares at an open package of what's supposed to be meat, frowning at the dry stuff. ]

[ When you come into the Zero G room, you might notice it's definitely got the gravity off. And just before you go anywhere, you'll hear a whimper.]

E-Excuse me.

[ ...Floating in the middle of the room just out of reach, is a certain white-haired woman who seems to be very distressed. ]

C-Can you help me?

[ Holo Deck ]

[ It's... What Clarith has brought up for the holo deck is part of a forest and a small shack. It's made of stone and is two rooms. She just sits next to the bed in the second room, curled up... With her face in her knees. She seems distressed... ]

[Another white-haired woman seems to be in a similar predicament nearby. This is a little embarrassing, frankly.]

Stay calm. If we can get to each other, we might be able to solve each other's problem.

[ She'll just. Stay curled up, because apparently they're in formalwear and that means Clarith is in a dress. ]

[Translation: Shit, I was hoping you had some idea.

2B has been in zero g before, but not without some sort of propulsion. This entire situation is turning into quite the trainwreck.]

[This isn't very ladylike, but 2B tries to... sort of... swim toward her.]

[2B realizes this a few moments behind this other person and stops, folding her arms and looking put out.]

I admit, problem solving isn't my forte. I'm more of a "making things explode" sort of model.

Is there any way you can get to the wall on your side? It looks like you could get traction or push off from it if you can get closer.

I-I can try?

[ The question is how to move. Maybe if she stretches herself out? She's tall, after all. ...Ah! She just barely reaches. Which means she can pull herself over to it. Hm, now, what? ...Well, she can't work the controls well, machines are well past her time, so really... All she can do is push off and flounder while trying to make sure she gets 2B to the other side. ]

This looks disgusting. I've never seen it before, either.

N-Neither have I.

[ ...She's concerned. Is this... Is it even edible? ]

The instructions say to add water, but personally, that sounds vile.

[ water pump, water pump, where's a water pump... She's passing right by the sink. ]

Oh, here, let me. [She grabs a cup and fills it from the sink.] Just read out the directions.

U-Um...

[ It takes a minute, really, for her to find instructions. ]

We need to... Fill the bag labeled heater with water and wait for it to heat up. There's a fill line...

Sure. [Starts doing that now...] I've heard of roughing it, but...

When it heats, you... Put one of the packets in and let it sit for a few minutes and it should be fine.

[ ...How. It sounds like magic. She seems completely bewildered and suspicious. ]

Right, to hydrate it. [work work work] Is this really all we're going to get for food?

I hope not...

[ ...Because this all sounds like magic and she just wants to cook. ]

It better not be. They must enjoy tormenting us.

[McGillis was rather interested in the holo deck himself, so he had come to examine it more closely, but there's no helping it if it's occupied. Still, there's no sign of anyone outside, and while he'll definitely knock a couple times... well, better to be rude than to miss if someone was actually hurt.

When he sees Clarith like that, he kneels in front of her, although he'll still maintain a decent distance between them.]

Pardon me for the intrusion, but is something the matter?

[ Clarith jumps at the sound of someone else there, looking like she thinks she's in trouble. ]

S-Sorry, sorry, I j-just missed home. Th-That's all! You can have it! I'm sorry for interfering!

[He's placated a nine-year old before and while Clarith is definitely older, she also comes off as far more skittish than Almiria ever did. He'll soften his tone accordingly, and he'll stay kneeling; hopefully it'll help him come off as less threatening.]

[Not that he expects just saying it to help, but hopefully it'll convey that he's not irritated in any way, shape or form.]

Sounds like the only thing that's gone bad is your attitude! [that strangely pitched rebuttal is going to come from a table in the corner where a tabby-striped creature is licking his paws clean. His table is adorned with at least three empty bags that he seems to have finished off]

[ ...Clarith is just going to stare for a few moments. Sorry, but the closest they have to animal people is actual forest spirits sometimes taking the form of animals. ]
