Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

This is not an official reserve, nor does it guarantee a slot in the game, but if you do choose to app a character that you test drove, you can use two minimum 20-comment threads or one minimum 40-comment thread (so at least 20 total comments from your character) in place of writing a sample. So have fun with it!

Arrival

[Mikaela woke up confused-- ironically not for the first time. But this was not any of the places she'd since become familiar with. She checked her forehead-- it felt cool to the touch. She didn't feel ill. But had she somehow overdone it again? And these clothes...

Quietly she picks herself out of bed and begins looking around outside for other signs of life. If she had been brought here, then surely she should be able to find someone who could explain what had happened to her.]

Excuse me?

Holo Deck

[...her dreams, huh? What was displayed was a peaceful forest; thick and lush and full of life. You could hear the sounds of birds and of water and no matter how you looked at it everything was calm and wonderful. But Mikaela has to laugh a bit. It's funny when you think about it. Dreams weren't simple things after all.]

If I could live there with the people I cared about most in a happy way... I suppose that would be my dream.

[Even though it was the very place she left. Life was funny that way, she supposed. But by itself this place was no longer her everything. Instead now it was a piece of her. And truthfully she thought it was... something to be happy about, at the very least.]

M-Miss Mikaela?

[ ...It's... The forest. A beautiful one. She recognizes it--she lives near the edge of it, after all. She looks nervous in the pretty white dress she's wearing, which doesn't have sleeves, but... It looks nice? Maybe? For someone not her, at least... ]

I-Is everything all right?

Oh! Clarith!

[Snapped from her thoughts, the girl in her own elegant light green dress immediately lights up upon seeing the other girl.]

Of course. I was just thinking...

[But looking at Clarith properly, she quickly pushes all that aside.]

What a beautiful dress. It really looks lovely on you!

Wh-What!? I-It doesn't suit me at all! It would look much better on someone like you!

[ She is trying to hide her red face in her hands now. Sweet Held, what is going on. ]

[That's certainly a thought. But it seems that Mikaela has different ideas than Clarith.]

Well I wouldn't mind seeing what you'd look like in something a little more colorful. Would you like to switch?

[It sounds fun to her. Besides... she really thinks Clarith would look wonderful in anything, but... if it was something that made her feel a little better about herself, then she'd like that even more.]

I-I don't think mine would even fit you...

[ ...You're a bit shorter than her, Mikaela. ]

Oh. [She hadn't thought of that.] You're probably right.

[But then her face lights up. She takes one of the bright green ribbons off of her own dress and ties it in a bow around one of the straps of Clarith's.]

There! Perfect.

[It's not much but-- it's a nice touch.]

[ ...Well now she's even redder than before. ]

Th-Thank you, Miss Mikaela.

[ Quick, quick, subject change! ]

U-Um... What are you doing in here, a-anyway?

[She shakes her head with a smile-- she didn't do anything special. Not that she deserved thanks for anyway. Mikaela had just wanted to see her brighten up a little.]

I heard about this place and I wanted to see it for myself.

[Stepping aside, she gestures towards the view of the forest.]

Would you like to try?

[What would Clarith conjure, she wondered. Admittedly she was very curious.]

I-I've never been outside the village, Miss Mikaela.

[ She's nervous and becoming panicked. The forest is a far as she's gone. ]

That's such a nice dream! [Oh, hey, Mary's here too- smiling reassuringly. Her presence doesn't seem to impact the hologram at all- not yet, at least. For now, her wish is to make others happy!]

Oh, golly, just look at all the green!

That sounds like a deceptively complicated dream you've got there~ [chiding, even as he rests back on a stump, watching her experience the holo deck. When did he actually arrive? How long has he been watching? Who's to say.]
