Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

This is not an official reserve, nor does it guarantee a slot in the game, but if you do choose to app a character that you test drove, you can use two minimum 20-comment threads or one minimum 40-comment thread (so at least 20 total comments from your character) in place of writing a sample. So have fun with it!

[ Wow, Felix actually looks like he's having fun here. Bouncing from one end of the room to the other, he goes around the room as though practicing for a routine. But this is surely innocent and fine and there is no reason to expect any kind of foul play from him! I mean, he seems really nice? ]

Oh, hey! You wanna join in? Beats Jazzersizing or whatever.

[ So friendly! He is definitely not planning anything. ]

E: Motive: A Date With Your Worst Nightmare

[ Motive day! Who's it gonna be? Felix has been enjoying the weirdly ridiculous murders that have so far graced their weird, romance-themed space mansion, and while it's been mostly a nuisance (and he doesn't take super well to being threatened, thanks,) it hasn't been all that bad. At least it's just him. If any of those stupid Freelancers were here, he'd probably have killed one of them by now.

Then he hears the motive: If any Champion cannot find love and does not kill one of their fellow Bachelors, then they will be forced to go on a date with their worst enemy.

Felix's face falls. ]

Ohhh, shit.

[ Locus is gonna fucking kill him. ]

Haha... what a dumb motive, right?

Yeeeah, no kidding. I know they're trying to get us to kill and all, but who'd be dumb enough to kill over a date?

Yeah, but who'd be that bad, you know? And having a "worst enemy?" Who even has time for that?

[ He is floating in mid-air and looks totally comfortable with that, so there you go. ]

I don't know. Depending on how you look at it, it could be an opportunity.

Oh, yeah? An opportunity for who? People with jerk friends back home?

[ Surely he has only great friends back home, oh yes. ]

Well, I do admit that I expect my worst enemies would probably take the opportunity to poison me or what have you, so I presume I ought to plan for the worst and return the sentiment in kind.

[spacehans]

Ahhh, yeah, that'll do it.

[ His enemies would definitely do the same thing. He would sympathize but he's the opposite of sympathetic. ]

You know that makes you sound like you're gonna fall for it, right? Not that I'm judging or anything, but telling people you've got enemies makes you sound pretty suspicious.

I don't know... no matter how you approach these things, it's hard not to seem suspicious. Be open about how the motive might impact you? Fairly suspicious, that.

Don't address it at all? Clearly, you're hiding something.

Deny you're affected at all? Methinks the crewmate doth protest too much.

Yeah, you're real observant, huh. There's no winning with these things.

[ Will he talk about it? Maybe? Not? ]

They expect us to talk amongst ourselves and work it all out, right? [ Psh. ] No way. They just want us all to get suspicious and kill each other before the end of the week.

Just because some of us have enemies doesn't mean we're gonna fall for some dumb trick.

Basically, yes. Take what I'm going to say with a grain of salt, but I have to say that my primary interest here is not dying, so I'd really rather deal with this by offering advice on the dates.

As motives to kill go, it's not particularly... motivating?

[ Yuuri doesn't sound convinced at least. She can't really imagine that having to go on an awkward date would be bad enough to spur someone into actually spilling some blood. ]

How do they even pick out your "worst enemy", anyway? And how would they arrange a date? It feels like they haven't thought this one out all that well.
