Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

This is not an official reserve, nor does it guarantee a slot in the game, but if you do choose to app a character that you test drove, you can use two minimum 20-comment threads or one minimum 40-comment thread (so at least 20 total comments from your character) in place of writing a sample. So have fun with it!

Zandakar | Champion of the God | Godspeaker Trilogy

[Anyone coming into the holodeck will possibly be a little disturbed to find Zandakar kneeling before the image of a stern woman, heavily scarred and seated upon a massive throne, gleaming black stone carved into the shape of a scorpion. The fierce blue eyes of the woman in the image mirror Zandakar's own.]

God keep me in your watchful eye. Forgive me, Yuma. [And even as he says it he reaches up to sheer one vibrant blue godbraid from his head with a pair of dull scissors from the craft room. Upon closer inspection it seems there are thin lines scored across his arms, slowly seeping blood.]

[Zandakar has moved tables aside, clearing a space of floor in the cafeteria large enough for him to maintain his training. He may not have his snake-blade but he is, at least, using one of the knives from the kitchen as a suitable replacement for the sake of practice. Watching him move through his hotas is something both terrifying and beautiful. He moves swift and precise through the motions of a highly trained warrior. He is but a tool of the God, it sees him and guides him through his knife-dance.

It would definitely be a bad idea to sneak up on him but as long as you announce yourself first maybe he'd be willing to talk.]

[Takumi doesn't sneak: even if he wasn't intending to make noise he always does- it was why while he was an amazing shot he was an abysmal hunter.

But he does cough slightly to let Zandakar know he's there before sitting to watch- if the other man wanted privacy he assumed he'd let him know, after all. Tact is not Takumi's strong point.]

[If Zandakar had wanted privacy he would have forced himself to adapt his hotas to the confined space of his room. He does not. He wants the freedom and familiarity of movements practiced since he was but a small child. He does not understand much of this place, nor can he hear the God in his heart but he will not let this place make him soft.]

Are you a warrior? [Asked with a brief glance of too-blue eyes between one motion and the next. He completed another spinning set of strikes, each lower until he ended kneeling and breathing heavily but facing Takumi.]

[It's quite the show, and Takumi's eyes are wide by the end of it. Of course he's seen displays of martial arts before, some that were more dance then battle. Many that were both in equal parts. But Zandakar's training is so exotic and new that he can't help but be flabbergasted.]

H-huh? Oh, yes. I'm an archer, though I have some training with swords and spears too.

[He nodded slowly, mulling over the words as though the translation wasn't quite something he was used to. So much of his own speech is specific to his culture and beliefs simple names for such things feel like there's something missing.]

It is good to know all forms of war. [He had trained in all positions in his army, it was a necessity of being Warlord, or even Warleader.]

Still, I've never seen knifeplay like that. Even among the ninja. It's... really amazing.

[Normally he wouldn't be so flattering, but his tone is very earnest]

[Not a word he would usually use but it works well enough.]

[Mai waits at the door, frowning slightly.]

Tcha- [It's a sound of dismissal more than a word exactly but the holodeck seems to know it's meaning because the image flashes away leaving the room empty, though the lighting is warm and bright like the desert sun instead of the cold florescence of the rest of the ship. He snatches the offered godbraid off the floor and stands, turning to face her in one fluid movement.]

You have need of me?

[She looks up at him, then down at her own arm, where blotchy bruises are spreading out past the sleeve of the space clothes.]

No. ...A god?

[He frowns, shaking his head slightly.]

No. The god.

[nojohnyouare]

[Oh, monotheism. She nods politely.]

...Do you need help?

[sadsaofthesun]

Tcha- [That same dismissive sound and he steps forward as though he's going to just push past her and go about his business. He pauses and breathes out a sigh. It is not her fault he is removed from the god's eye here.]

No. I do not.

[Just a nod, as if she isn't even insulted.]
