Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

This is not an official reserve, nor does it guarantee a slot in the game, but if you do choose to app a character that you test drove, you can use two minimum 20-comment threads or one minimum 40-comment thread (so at least 20 total comments from your character) in place of writing a sample. So have fun with it!

...no-maj? That's a new one. Then again, I'm sure there has to be some Second Magic nonsense going on here, given everything I've heard so far.

I've definitely been out and about, but I can't say my interactions with the average person have been... substantial, I suppose.

Mmm, yeah. We call the normal folks, the non magical ones, No-majs. No-magic, No-maj. Not very clever but it's been that way for centuries. Makes more sense than the Brits callin 'em Muggles, leastways.

But in any case, I mostly learned from my family, which is pretty typical for anyone who isn't going to get involved in Clock Tower. Granted, those who don't study there are usually either from one of those hideously inbred families or... well, children who didn't inherit the crest.

We do our schoolin at home up until 11 but everybody goes ta school. Ilvermorny in America or Hogwarts in Britain. Whether yer planning on doin something fancy or not. This uh... Clock Tower thing? Is that like your government or is it more, I dunno, academic?

...you know, it's both. Technically it's mostly research, but it's definitely very intertwined with governing Mages and preserving the secrecy of magic and the like.

Mmm, we don't really do a whole lotta research. The Ministry's more inta that than MACUSA. [She frowns, looking thoughtful for a moment.]

Y'know, what year is it where you're from? I mean from some of the stuff I've read I think it's more a time thing, maybe? 1926.

Anyway... yes, that's definitely quite a long time before when I'm from. It was 1995, last I checked.

Anyway, I haven't been able to do any magecraft whatsoever, so you technically got off a bit better.

I s'pose the only things I can do are the stuff I don' need my wand for. I mean, I probably make thirty cups a coffee a day at work so... I could do this in my sleep.

I suppose that makes sense on some level, if they're trying to keep us from overpowering them. If all you can do right now is make coffee, well... can't actually do much harm with that, can you?

Oh gosh and here I ain't asked if you want any. I can fix you up a cup if you want?

You take sugar? [because there's another mug removing itself from the cabinet to settle itself on the countertop beside her own while she is fussing with an old fashioned percolator.]
