Not... not necessarily. We didn't lose anyone the first week and... no one's going to just pick up a weapon and start killing right off the bat like that without the proper motivation.

But we were not presented with a motive the first week, either. And even our second week, no one chose to kill, but nevertheless...

This is hardly a motive either though, I don't think. It's one thing to mess around with powers or go storming in and making a show of being a threat but surely they can't have expected anyone to take up "Space Vegas", can they?

I had thought it a newer choice of theirs, to bind the group close before tearing it apart. But they knew from the start of the rules, though the motive be weak...

Maybe Bolton thought to make it quicker for us than it was for them.

[ To get him and Jamie out as soon as possible. But also to cut their own suffering shorter than his had been. ]

Sir Bolton may also have better understood what would motivate a captive to kill, having experienced it himself.

[So in theory if R5's Overseer was Jamie again, or Togami or Fukawa, they could probably fuck everything up with MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY.]

It's no wonder they were so brutal with us right away. They knew what worked and what didn't. Bolton-san came up with the motives to try and save Jamie-san, and he called one an "old classic" once... They get worse. They must.

Perhaps it will be Sir Blaze next? He may be better able to motivate them.
